  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 cup icing sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vinegar, red gel food color, and vanilla; mix until well combined.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; gently fold until just combined.
  5. Chill dough for 15–20 minutes.
  6. Scoop dough into balls and slightly flatten before placing on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10–11 minutes; cool on a rack.
  8. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add icing sugar and vanilla until smooth.
